October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Employment Team at Kelberman would like to highlight Bargain Grocery, one of the sites where we volunteer for Community-Based Prevocational Services.

Bargain Grocery and its amazing employees, including Judy Servello, is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of the people in our community. The store is known in the Utica community for combatting food insecurity in underprivileged areas by providing essential goods at lower prices.

Bargain Grocery has offered Kelberman volunteers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various employment areas, including customer service, food service and preparation, stocking shelves and bagging groceries. These skills are all transferable to real-world settings, which benefit the participants in our Community-Based Prevocational Services program. Staff at Bargain Grocery treat the people we support at Kelberman like family and take the time to understand and appreciate their interests and personalities.
